I'm going back to my roots with some musical vibes to attach to my journey. Another rant about our social age, which I guess is my niche really. I started writing it about a month ago, and it came together almost immediately which doesn't happen often. It's jumped ahead of several songs I'd already written in entering the social arena. I haven't played live for about 3 years now so am quite rusty vocally but I hope to get back into it soon. This song talks about people suffering within a manic, old fashioned and judgemental society, and how truth, compassion and speaking out could be the solution to the problem.

Spring is starting to arrive, woohoo! Today has been the first day in a long while that I've felt the Sun, gazed upon a bright blue sky, and not been battered by the bitter north winter wind.
I've been so busy recently that I haven't had a lot of time to be personally creative, or sit down and muster up the energy to do a blog post. Despite though still being in the midst of crazy schedules, I thought it would be good to vent and realign my mind, find some order in the Chaos. Mindfulness is something I'm working on, and focusing on the present moment. I think this philosophy is helpful through busy times, when you feel like life is flying in front of you, and you are taking on more responsibility and adding layers of focus and commitment to your life. My Permaculture course is soon coming to an end, it's been a really quick 2 1/2 months and I've met some amazing people during this time. We've been to see a number of permaculture inspired sites across the South of England, and it's been eye opening to see people and organisations adopting sustainable practices and implenting them within society. Everyone on the course is also busy creating a Permaculture Design, and we've each been split into groups to work on a unique project in Bristol. My group is working on a design for a community social enterprise called Buzz Lockleaze, which is a cafe, food shop and community hub in a fairly deprived area of the city. We are designing a garden for them and applying permaculture principles so the space is used in the most productive way possible, whilst giving local people a glimpse into the world of forward thinking attitudes. I'm fitting this in with my day job of Organic Gardening which is progressing well, and building up speed as we approach the busiest time of the year. I'm doing more working hours as the company grows, and continually learning new gardening techniques as well as expanding my knowledge of plants. It's finally great to see flowers and shrubs blooming as the warmer weather approaches. The land we are turning into a Permaculture Smallholding is starting to take more shape, we've been focusing on the main structure of the land by planting a lot of hedging around the perimeter, and we are close to starting this years propagation. I can't wait to see all the yummy organic produce we will yield cometh Summer! So yeah, life's well mental at the moment, challenging, mind expanding, thought provoking, frustrating yet rewarding. As I continue to say though, it beats working in an office, like a robot with a number as I sang about 7 years ago, oh how things have changed. Peace |
AdamThe idea is to document my perspective as I embark upon a journey into the world of organic gardening and permaculture, through the medium of literature, music and art Archives
